Fafies Creperie

Fafies Creperie is a real find. Tucked away in a Dublin side street (at 2 Lower Kevin Street, Dublin 8 it offers keenly-priced sustenance and authenticity in a city that is increasingly prone to banal, conveyor-belt coffee shops.

Run by a French woman with a mainly french staff, Fafies sells both sweet crêpes with a choice of chocolate, butter, sugar and/or lemon and savoury galettes, that is buckwheat pancakes stuffed with your choice of ham, cheese, mushrooms, cream, even smoked salmon, goats cheese and walnuts. Everything is made fresh and is super-sized (but in a good way). We had a nut brown quilt of a galette stuffed with mushrooms and lardons of bacon – it was enormous and hung over both sides of a large plate and it was scrumptious.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday until 10pm, Fafies is small but perfectly formed (so it’s just as well they do takeaway too). No-one rushes you out and it is some of the best value in town for genuine, homemade food.
